Self-Neglect and Hoarding (Level 3)

This course is designed to explore what is meant be Self Neglect and Hoarding and some of the possible reasons they occur. It will explore risk identification, multi-agency working and risk management. The course is for anyone who works with adults who, potentially are self-neglecting or hoarding and can include social care staff, police, health care professionals, GP’s, fire service, ambulance service, housing providers and voluntary agencies and support groups.
This course will focus on the following aspects of self-neglect and hoarding:
- What is self-neglect in the context of the Care Act
- Different types of self-neglect and symptoms
- Key factors in effective working with someone who self-neglects
- What is Hoarding
- Identifying and managing risk
- Early intervention
- Multi agency working and information sharing
- Identify and assess risk
- Demonstrate risk assessment and risk management
- Legislative frameworks
